The new game from DevilishGames combines village building and paper crafting in a relaxing and creative experience

Spanish independent studio DevilishGames has announced that Cutout Village will launch on Steam Early Access on October 21. The game offers a unique blend of village building and paper crafting, set in a small rural community that players must help bring back to life.

In Cutout Village, building literally means cutting, folding, and gluing paper. As they progress, players will unlock more than 50 buildings, services, and decorative elements that they can use to expand and customize their village.

The game draws inspiration from traditional crafts and the paper cutout books that became popular throughout the 20th century. Its visual style combines watercolors, paper models, and handmade books to create a calm, unhurried experience.

Build In-Game and in the Real World

The protagonists of Cutout Village return to the village where they spent their childhood after inheriting an old family home. Years later, the place has been left almost completely abandoned. As players rebuild its streets and trade with its inhabitants, they will uncover the village’s story and help bring it back to life.

One of the game’s most distinctive features is that every building unlocked in the game is also available as a printable PDF sheet. Players can download, print, cut out, and physically assemble their own versions of the structures they have created in the game.

We decided to launch Cutout Village in Early Access because we believe the best way to finish the game is by listening to the people who play it. The core experience is already complete, but there is still room to polish mechanics, improve the balance, and add new features.

During Early Access, which the team expects to last approximately 3 to 6 months, DevilishGames will continue working on new content, balance, and improvements based on community feedback. Planned features include a Free Mode, which is currently in development.

Following Early Access, Cutout Village is planned to launch in version 1.0 in 2027, alongside versions for Nintendo Switch, XBOX, and PlayStation.
